New DuPont™ Ground grid drainage solution cuts costs on site
March 2007
TDP, the specialist in fibre technology, has joined forces with DuPont™ to launch DuPont™ Ground Grid, a flexible geotextile grid for ground stabilisation and drainage, which enables builders and contractors to meet the increasing need for effective drainage solutions, and also saves time and ultimately, reduces the overall cost of construction.
The over use of hard, impermeable materials for roads, driveways and car parks has led to drainage problems which have become a major issue, with an increase in flooding and environmental contamination, due to water run off into rivers and groundwater. This has led to the demand for effective solutions to counteract the problem, in addition to the growth of Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SUDS) which are designed to deal with surface water run off in a controlled way, to minimise or prevent flooding.
DuPont™ Ground Grid is the ideal choice for SUDS as it is completely porous - water penetrates both vertically and horizontally. SUDS and new legislative building regulations and guidance policies such as PPS25, encourage the use of porous systems like DuPont™ Ground Grid for water management.
In addition to solving drainage problems, DuPont™ Ground Grid also satisfies the current need for speed and cost control on site - another major benefit for builders.
DuPont™ Ground Grid is an innovative three-dimensional and flexible geotextile grid which is much easier to lay and handle on site than alternative materials. It has a honeycombe structure and when filled with gravel, soil, sand or other mineral infill, provides an ideal surface for landscape and construction projects such as driveways, paths, car parks, golf courses and artificially surfaced sports fields.
It is much quicker to install than other methods, which saves time and reduces the overall cost of construction. An average small commercial car park of 500 square metres takes just five hours installation time with DuPont™ Ground Grid, providing one of the most cost-effective surface stabilisation solutions available. It is lightweight, easy to cut to size and its flexibility means that it is ideal for undulating ground.
DuPont™ Ground Grid is available from builders' merchants nationwide which allows for quick and easy delivery to site, another advantage over many alternative solutions. Technical back up is also available including a new Technical Data Sheet and Installation Guide.
Rob Barlow, managing director of TDP comments, "We have a reputation for supplying innovative products to meet market demand. DuPont™ Ground Grid is no exception, providing the solution to the building industry's dilemma, as it is highly effective in drainage control yet also very easy to use, quick and cost-effective."
