Sustainable sourcing from TDP

May 2010
TDP has launched a new range of recycled, British-manufactured construction and landscaping products, extending its existing sustainable range.
The company has always offered recycled, long-lasting and environmentally-friendly products and its latest range is no exception as Rob Barlow, managing director of TDP explains, “Sustainable development has become a hot topic recently but it has always been an integral part of our approach to business. Rather than jumping on the sustainability bandwagon we have actually been driving this agenda for some time, helping our stockists and their customers find ways to build with sustainability in mind.”
TDP’s new building products range is manufactured from UK-generated plastic waste that would otherwise be destined for landfill and all the products are recyclable in their own right. The range includes building and landscaping products from porous paving and decking to roofing battens, kerbing and fencing, which will enhance any park, garden, town centre, school, leisure or play complex.
It also includes street furniture such as bollards, posts and rails, benches, seats and picnic tables, planters and litter bins in a variety of sizes. Already used by major organisations in both the private and public sector, this sustainable range of products offers significant benefits compared to the use of traditional materials, being strong and durable, impact resistant and rot proof.
As well as reducing landfill, the range cuts carbon footprint as it is sourced and produced in the UK and does not have to be imported. Its durability reduces waste and frequent replacement, it is non-toxic and does not need to be treated by chemicals.
Rob Barlow added, “Recycled plastic technology is a rapidly growing market and has advanced enormously. It now offers a very attractive proposition. This new range not only looks and feels great, it will enhance any location and last for many years without the need for costly maintenance or replacement.”
Other TDP products offering efficiency and durability include Netpave, Turfguard and DuPont™ Plantex®.
TDP Netpave is the market-leading porous paving solution which is manufactured from 100% recycled polyethylene and can be used for trafficked areas that require stabilisation from driveways and pathways to commercial car parks.
TDP Turfguard is an extruded polyethylene mesh which protects and reinforces grass or turf. It is also tough, flexible and long lasting and is suitable for access on stable ground by a wide range of vehicles.
TDP has been the leading supplier of Plantex® in the UK for 20 years and cites the product’s flexibility and sustainability as key factors behind its ongoing success.
Rob Barlow said, “Plantex® is the original, non-chemical weed control fabric and remains the first choice of professional landscapers and builders. It is a high quality fabric with a long life span, making it the sustainable choice for a range of landscaping projects.
“Its flexibility allows it to be used as a non-chemical barrier for weeds in soft landscape schemes, but it also has the tensile strength to be used in hard landscaping applications such as paths and patios.”
The products are available from builders’ merchants nationwide.
