TDP, the specialist in fibre technology for building and landscaping, has been appointed UK distributor for Netlon Turfguard, an extruded polyethylene mesh which provides a cost-effective solution for the protection and reinforcement of grass and turf.

The new distribution agreement is a major benefit to the landscape and amenity management sector, as it means that Netlon Turfguard is now widely available across the UK with full technical backup provided by TDP.

It also means that TDP now offers a one-stop solution for the new planning legislation for hardstanding areas of more than 5m2 which now require planning consent and the use of a porous surface. Using Netlon Turfguard offers a real advantage as it provides a porous hardwearing parking surface which avoids the need to apply for planning consent, as turfed areas are not classed as hardstanding.

For those projects incorporating a driveway or patio which will require planning consent, another porous paving solution offered by TDP is DuPont™ Ground Grid, a flexible geotextile grid, which is suitable for use with aggregate, stone, gravel or turf. The three-dimensional grid provides a stable surface for areas used by pedestrians and traffic and is also an effective drainage solution. The loose infill material, and the porosity value of the geotextile walls allow water penetration both vertically and horizontally, making DuPont™ Ground Grid the ideal choice for Sustainable Drainage Systems (SUDS).

Netlon Turfguard is the latest addition to TDP’s innovative range of landscaping solutions. It is tough, flexible and long lasting and suitable for access on stable ground by a wide range of vehicles. Netlon Turfguard also reduces grass wear and helps prevent surface erosion, a common problem when regular vehicular access is required.

Netlon Turfguard has a wide range of uses and is particularly suitable for parkland and areas of natural beauty, grass verges, caravan sites, occasional-use roads, car parks and access routes for light vehicles, taxiways for light aircraft, pedestrian and wheelchair access routes and golf buggy paths.

Easy installation is another benefit for landscapers. Supplied in a 2m x 30m roll, it can be laid on existing or newly grassed areas. Where new areas are being created seed can be thrown over the Netlon Turfguard. As the grass develops the plants intertwine with the mesh to provide a completely natural appearance and a permanent protection against wear.

Netlon Turfguard can also be used as part of a Sustainable Drainage System (SUDS).

New distributor TDP has established its reputation at the forefront of fabric technology in the landscaping and building industry with innovative solutions such as DuPont Plantex® weed control fabric and Ground Grid. The company is now using its expertise to supply the industry with Netlon Turfguard.

Rob Barlow, managing director of TDP Ltd said, “We are delighted to add this exciting product to our portfolio and look forward to raising the profile of Netlon Turfguard and its many benefits to the landscaping sector. Netlon Turfguard has not been widely available in recent times and initial feedback we have received following our appointment has been tremendous. Customers are delighted that a dedicated distributor with full technical backup has been appointed and we have already supplied product as far afield as Hong Kong.

“We will be able to use our extensive knowledge of the landscaping market to help both new and existing customers benefit from this innovative solution.”

Netlon Turfguard is available from builders’ merchants nationwide.
