Visitors' Car Park – Dyrham Park

A 2,700sq m area of grassland at Dyrham Park, a National Trust property in the Cotswolds, has been converted into a durable visitor car park using TDP Turfguard, the tough, flexible plastic mesh from Netlon.

In order to preserve the natural beauty of the site, the project team wanted to avoid using asphalt or gravel. They were also keen to avoid any major excavation or building works in order to keep within a limited budget.

“Turfguard provided the ideal solution,” said Dyrham Park’s Head Gardener, Dale Dennehy. “We just cut the grass as short as we could, pegged the TDP Turfguard down, applied a top dressing and the grass grew back through the mesh. We didn’t have to worry about levelling the ground or carrying out any kind of excavation work.”

Following the successful creation of the new parking area, Dyrham Park staff relandscaped another plot at the front of the house and again selected TDP Turfguard to create additional parking for occasional use in connection with winter events held at the property.
